Sega Megadrive to SCART cable (http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/gamescart/gamescart.htm#mega2)
No fancy photos but it is accurate, unlike the mmmonkey tutorial (missing coupling capacitors).

Mmmonkey seems to own a PAL system. Using such the capacitors are not needed. Even without resistors it works (no clue why he is using those).

The series resistor and capacitor are part of the support circuitry required by the Megadrive/Genesis video output chip (CXA1145/CXA1645 and friends) when driving a 75 ohm TV/Monitor. As far as I'm aware, these components aren't present in any mega/genesis console, PAL or otherwise. They have to be put in the cable or you'll get a distorted picture.

btw. If you know better and own a console with these components on the inside then I'd be interested in more info (how to identify, etc).
