Hey just wondering how easy it would be to wire in 1 to 3 LEDS in to a snes control pad and how i would go about it, and is there any one that makes and sells or could make replacment buttons for the slect and start buttons or the r and l buttons in a clear plastic to alow the led to emit out. Any sugestions or anyone who has photos of an attempt they did would be much apreciated
and also this is a long shot but what are the chances of wireing an led in to a game cartridge? or am i well ahead of myself?
Take your multimeter and have a look inside, or even just check the pinout (http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/nessnes.htm) and you'll find there's +5v available. Wire a resistor from power to your LED and you're done.
Ditto for carts - find the +5V supply, add resistor and presto!

if youre using a high intensity led, use an 85 ohm resistor

yet it shows more pins than i can count on my cartridge?
secondly where on the board could i re wire in the resister etc would i need to conect using wire? and do i need to scratch of the green covering to expose the metal? there are sum free wholes but im not sure if they are on teh right pin, the same goes for the controller (i checked the images on phreaks page)
i have opened up street fighter for the sfc if that helps because i guess many carts are different?

many games dont have contacts for the pins i have put in bold, this is probably why your game has a different number.. you probably just have to focus on the ones in the middle.
you should use pin 5 for ground and pin 27 for 5V, as they are both on the same side of the pcb. or if it would be easyer on the other side of the board, use pin 36 for ground, and pin 58 for 5V.
yes, you may have to scrape the green off, but make sure the place you solder to doesnt stop the case from going back on properly.
