Well, this is not a "controller technic" related question, but it goes close :)
I'd like to buy one of those ball-top joysticks to replace my HappControls Ultimate Joystick. I remember, when I spent the best part of my youth in the arcades, that I liked ball-top joysticks the most, because they usually where shorter and had a more "tight" feeling, when making quick left-right or top-down direction changes.
I don't know if they were made from a single manufacturer, and if they were the same that are now present on the Naomi cabinets, for example. But I'd really like to have one.
Anyone knows where I can buy one, or at least the manufacturer's name?
Thanks!
Sanwa and Seimitsu are pretty much the only two manufacturers of sticks in Japan, home of the short-throw ball-tops. They're not too expensive, $15-20 for a new one. There are several places online that sell them, try googling for a source.
This post makes me sad. My local arcade was unloading a few machines for 200 bucks. I had the money, I just dont have any place to put them. Man I would have loved making a MAME like cabinet out of one of those and an xbox. Sorry for the off topic post.
Thank you a lot. Now I have the names :) I found a couple of online shops, they sell them with or without the faceplate. AFAIK I should not need a faceplate, or better, I didn't use one for my Happcontrols Joystick. Is it mandatory to use one?
In a picture of a Sanwa joystick I noticed a 5-pin connector. What's its use?
i havnt looked at it, but could it be fore up down left right and ground?
or are there regular microswitches you have to connect yourself aswel?
Here you can see a picture (http://www.himuragames.com/images/joystick_8Y_06.jpg).
You could be right about those pins, as I don't see standard microswitches connector.
That's the norm for Japanese sticks. GND, UDLR. Nothing to it.
