Title: Saturn RGB cable on Mega Drive II
Post by: FM-77 on November 29, 2004, 08:59:29 PM
I have a spare Saturn RGB-cable and well, they are looking almost the same, at least. But I am very sure the Saturn cable won't work on the Mega Drive II. So my question is; is it somehow possible to modify the cable so that it will work on the Mega Drive II?

Just rearrange the pins: R, G, B, Sync/Video + GND.  Also audio.

Yes. I saw those somewhere on the page. I assume that is where I can find which pins those are. I just need to rearrange the ones on the lower end, right? (The one that goes into the Mega Drive.)

Just to be clear... The Saturn and Genesis/Megadrive mini-DIN plugs are not at all compatible, so rearranging the wires and the connections inside the connector won't buy you anything. A better option is to hack open an existing Genesis connector for that purpose; a Mark-I connector adapter from the 32x is a good candidate. NCS in New York also sells a Megadrive-compatible SCART cable that's good for custom wiring jobs. Hope that's helpful.
