Title: PS2 RGB to SVGA Convertor
Post by: piezpiedpy on October 29, 2004, 09:59:52 AM
I was thinking of wiring an A/V cable for my PAL PS2 to SVGA Monitor using the LM1881N chip to strip the H+V Sync.

What I need to know is, do I need to double the sync? How? and can the 81N odd/even field output be used as a trigger for the sync, i.e to reset an astable?

And I though it was going to be 5mins to gafa a cable together. pffffff

Almost all SVGA monitors won't sync as low as standard TV signals. That means either you have to hope you can get the PS2 to throw out VGA signals (which is game reliant), or you need a scan rate converter.

Unfortunately, it's not just the sync signals that need to be doubled, but you need to do the same thing to the RGB lines to keep it all synchronised together. It's generally easier to go and buy a scan rate converter, or not to use a SVGA monitor.

This is a job for XSelect D4, or XRGB2+ I'd say. Pony up the money if you want to be happy with the results.
