http://www.mediafire.com/file/nqvyxhyijmx/Kyuukyoku!! X68000 Emulator.7Z

This is a dump of Ultimate X68000 Emulator, the cover CD from a Japanese book about the X68000 that was released shortly after the OS, BIOS and Zoom's game library were liberated.

The CD contains, among other games, AMS-2 and several other titles by Twinkle Soft that are not in the TOSEC and were assumed undumped.

Oddly enough, it appears that Twinkle Soft had offered these games for download on it's official site. The site went down so long ago that nobody thought to save the games when they were up; the CD is the only place to find them now.

AMS-2 suffers from an utterly baffling bug; it will work in emulators but NOT on real hardware. Either it's a zany copy-protection mixup (doubtful as copy protection is unheard of on doujin games) or the game was clumsily patched to work around an emulator bug and the patch broke the game on real hardware. It either needs to be fixed somehow, or a real copy of the disk needs to be found in the wild.

I think we can all agree though that this is a lot better than nothing.

Thanks to papa_november for alerting me to the existence of this CD and thanks to me for buying it. Y'all can race to be the third non-Japanese person to play some of these games. :P

(edit: never mind, it was replaced with a mediafire link)

Sweet, AMS2 is one I've been after for a while, saw it was on the cd for that book some time ago but didn't have any luck tracking it down. Cheers!

for the folks not familiar with hyperspin
its a frontend that let the user launch directly to games via one click
see attached pic below
user can scroll through about 500 games on the right hand side
a video for each game plays as you scroll through games
each game has cutout wheel art
and then the game can be launched with the click of just ONE Button...for me im using a xbox 360 controller to launch and play games
i have all of the following  file types launching directly from hyperspin\ (see list below)
with one click to play
and one click to get back to selection wheel
and you can jump back and forth between file types with that SAME one click
the user NEVER SEES the menu screens on the compilation .hds/.hdf files....because I use save states to go right to the game!!!
(so when I share this the USER will have to setup a "fake" S: drive to match mine
....can be done VERY EASILY with one or two commands))
(((((((http://www.askvg.com/create-a-virtual-drive-for-your-desired-folder-in-my-computer-using-subst-command/))))

.hdf
.2hd
.hds
.xdf
.dim
.XM6 (on XMG6)
.x68 (on win68khighspeed)
as well as others

.
.
.

also ...settings for the emulator/games can be set/controlled inside the hyperspin control panel (HLHQ)
you can set general setting for ALL games including
having keyboard pop up automatically
having xpadder displayed
hiding status bar
going fullscreen
setting main memory RAM
these settings are set (in the INI before launch for the non save state games) and via (emulator manipulation for the save state games)
so it works for all the games (actually not for the win68khighspeed games YET)
setting DEFAULT joystick setting for ALL games (there is a popup that defines the number (not shown))

.
.
.
and then for individual games
you can play with setting
to have game go automatically to MOUSE MODE after loading
or Set default joysticks for INDIVIDUAL GAMES

 Hi CraigAnderson !

This looks very good. By the way, which games will be included in the latest and greatest Hyperspin ?

eidis

 Hi CraigAnderson !

Use WinISO to extract the contents of the larger file.

what should the final extracted file "file type" be?
thanks

none of these file types (.dat, .toc. .2D) are listed in the WinISO associated file type
cant do anything with it.

hmmmmm

eidis

 Hi CraigAnderson !

Rename "x68000 book.dat" to "x68000 book.iso" and WinISO will happily let you open it and extract its contents.

craiganderson

awesome
worked like a charm
already have ams-2 added to the hypespin setup
wheel has been cutout
video recorded
now just one click to play!!
check it out below
what are the other "best" games from the disk?
thanks
.

craiganderson

i notice that on some of the games off of this disk
there does not seem to be any controller in the list on xm6g emulator that actually lets  you control completely
moving left or right seems to pause games etc
never noticed this before
in particular w bullets does it
anybody else notice this or figure out a way to control games from this disk

SuperDeadite

Be careful.  A lot of the games on that disk are bad dumps.  Besides the infamous AMS-2 not working on real hardware, the voice effects in Cy-Lips do not work at all either.  All the Twinkle Soft games on that CD should be considered bad dumps until confirmed otherwise.

craiganderson

thanks
anybody have a list of good dumps / bad dumps from the disk
?
thjanks

in particular
the disk is my only source for the following

white fantasia - doesnt work at all
rayvs
spiral bullet
w bullet
sucharaka battle next
maderina

anybody have other versions they might be able to share if these are bad dumps?

raydefox freezes...but i downloaded it from a site as well...also freezes
