I have an old Panasonic MSX2+ computer. It has a DIN-8 RGB video port, which for various reasons I have decided that I want to convert to VGA. I understand that the video signal from this computer is 15 KHz, and that I need an upscan converter. The XRGB2+ seems to be the most popular one, although it's a bit expensive.
The pin layout for the RGB connector in question is described here (http://www.faq.msxnet.org/connector.html#rgbjap). The XRGB2+ seems to have a Japanese "RGB21" input, which is described here (http://www.faq.msxnet.org/connector.html#scartjap). Most of the signals in the two sets seem to be equivalents, but there is some ambiguity.
I'm wondering two things:
1) Has anyone here used an XRGB2+ with an MSX or similar Japanese computer?
2) Where would I find a cable that converts from DIN8 to RGB21?
Thanks.
I have a dozen MSX -> RGB21 cables here, send me $15 (mostly for shipping, they're heavy) and I'll send you a cable. The XRGB2+ isn't as good as the 2, but it'll work great for what you need.
You've got a deal. :-) You can email me at imarshal@myrealbox.com. (I sent you a private message, but I'm not sure if that feature is working.)
