Title: Looking to purchase a Mercury Unit and accelerator
Post by: TheRogue on December 05, 2009, 12:15:42 PM
I'm looking to acquire a Mercury unit PCM Board for my X68000 XVI.  I'm also looking to acquire some sort of accelerator card. Does anyone have a line on where I can get either one of these? Also, I wouldn't mind getting a Neptune board, so if anyone has any of these for sale or knows where to get them, I'd be interested. Thanks.

An untested Mercury unit sold recently on Yahoo Auctions for 4,800 yen.

All about the Neptune here:

For the XVI, you'd want a Jupiter-X accelerator card.

For this kind of thing, you're talking serious money though.

The Neptune was succeeded by the Nereid, which actually fits in the slot without looking ridiculous.

Either will probably set you back $300+.

Sounds great. I am willing to pay that. I just spend a total of 1500 to get my XVI (cost of everything from Yahoo! Japan, shipping of computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, joycard, cables, manuals from Japan to Canada, and cost of repairing the monitor), so what's another little bit? Anyway, if anyone can get a line on any of these, it would great. So a Nereid, Jupiter-X, and maybe a Mercury unit but that's less important then the other 2. Lawrence, do you have a way to source these?  I will have to buy one, then about a month later buy the other one and so on.  I notice the Jupiter-X has 2 or 3 PCI slots. I take it the only way to use those is to put the X68k into a new case? Anyway, please let me know.
