Holo3D PC Capture Cards: DIY Transcoder?

I was reading a very interesting article on using a Holo 3D PCI capture card to play tate games on a yoko monitor. This actually sounds like a really nice DIY transcoder as well since the board will accept RGBs as well as Component and your output is limited only to the video out card you use (DVI, VGA maybe even HDMI... who knows what resolutions). The ability to rotate the screen is just a nice bonus.

They can be found on eBay for about $150 or so and don't require much in the realm of a computer (Pentium III, 512 MB of Ram).

I might make this as my next project.
If you can mod it... I'll find a way to screw it up!
