Hi all,

Just wondering if it is wrong to leave your X68000 in standby (i.e. Red light)?

Will it reduce the lifespan of the unit?

If so, which parts are 'live' in this state? (Just the PSU, or other parts too...)

I'm a little paranoid about leaving it switched on  :P

Cheers!

I think for Capacitors is better stay in Standby than stay Off,
i am talking about a lot of years,
my humble opinion, is not good for this computer's stay without working a lot of years.

A few things are still powered when the X68000 is left in standby, Such as the Real Time Clock (RTC) chip, the 74LS08 logic chip that handles the power on/off business and the static ram (SRAM) witch all run off the 5 volt standby voltage when the machine is in a powered down state.

So yes, Some of the capacitors in the circuits to those components would still be in use when the machine is off.. However. everything else that runs off the other voltages would not be.
