Title: X68000 and KryoFlux
Post by: hyperneogeo on August 25, 2015, 06:35:33 AM
So to get away from my really ancient PC, I bought a Kryoflux. I was looking around on the Kryoflux forums on how to dump and write disks for the x68000, but the information is everywhere and contradicting. Anyone have one/have an idea?

Well, it's quite simple. For dumping disks you have to select the right parameters in the DTC software so MFM decoding , 77 tracks, 2 sides, 8 sectors per track, 1024 bytes per sector. Some disks may have funny copy protection of course.

For writing, since Kryoflux can write only some formats (IPF, stream, ADF, G64) you have first to convert the disk images from .XDF into stream .RAW format  using the software of the HxC floppy emulator (first load the .XDF end then use the export option) and then write back the stream file to disk.
Obviously we are assuming 5.25" floppy disk.

I actually tried that and all it does is spit out a blank file.

So if you try to dump a disk you will get only a blank file?Did you try to write them back?
I forgot to say you have to set 360rpm as target and use a compatible 5.25 floppy drive like the Teac FD-55GFR.
