Title: X68000 new psu
Post by: Andrew on October 29, 2008, 04:28:43 AM
Hello,

I'm new to this board. I bought a Sharp X68000 Expert a while ago. Unfortunately the psu was broken. I bought an old ATX psu and replaced it. The Sharp is working now. Unfortunately the system randomly shuts down. I'm not sure why. Probably the psu has too less power?

This is the datasheet of my psu:

AC input:
100-127V / 4A
200-240V / 2A (currently runs on 230V)

DC output:
+5V / 15A
+3.3V / 10A
+5VSB / 2A
+12V / 2A
-12V / 0.2A

+5V & 3.3V shall not exceed 90 W

Is that enough power for an Sharp X68k Expert?

How is it randomly shutting down? Does it just blink off or does it act like you pressed the power button?

The power led turns red and the system is instantly off. That occurs randomly.

When I push the power button the power led starts to flicker, my screen slowly turns black and after a few seconds the systems is off.

That is really strange. Have you checked the power-on circuit? Have you tried a different power supply?

I did a re-work on the power-o circuit and the system is working fine now.
