Playstation 2 laser lens PVR802-W with antistatic solder point

Today I received my new laser lens but I didn't know about the "antistatic solder point" so I connected it on my playstation 2 and didn't work.
Did I damage the lens or broken it?
What does the "antistatic solder point"?

It's a blob of solder close to the laser emitter... You take a soldering iron and heat it until the blob flows to the soldering iron tip.

Something like this:


O  <- with the blob of solder

will change into this:

III   <- 3 silver colored stripes (tracks) each other separated from it's neighbor track.

Thanks for the information l_oliveira but the laser lens don't work anymore (don't know why but I think it's because I didn't desolder that point and then connected to my console).
Anyway it's was a "present" from a friend so no big problem...
But I really want the explication of that "antistatic solder point"?
This solder point protect the laser lens from dust or something?

That's what it's for.... Static electricity can destroy the laser LED.
