@craiganderson

I think your info is not really helpful.
Without displaying the Japanese characters it is difficult to understand the message text.
Which emulator (name, version) do you use?
Which ROMs are in the root of your emulator folder?

Excerpt from Sharp X1\[Miscellaneous]\[Miscellaneous] [guide].zip

Quote=== Running software ===
Most games run on the original X1, unless labeled with [X1turbo].
You can tell whether your system/emulator is X1 or turbo according to the IPL text at boot-up:
Original X1: "IPL is under preparing."
X1turbo/X1turboZ: "IPL is set for device."

Note that the X1turbo is backwards compatible with pretty much everything, so it's easiest to use that.

The majority of games, even tape games, are completely plug-and-play.

anna,

on the other forum you stated

"Try the Xmil106RS T-tune v1.90
http://www (http://www). geocities.jp/xmil106/Xmil106RS.zip
(Copy/Paste, remove the space)

Be careful with the tape image, it can be easily modified.
Make first a backup of the original tape image.
I suggest to enable the "Protect" function before you open the tape image.
If the emulator is not able to load the tape image, it can be the tape is not on the start position.
CMD > REW to rewind the tape.

Otherwise for HuBASIC files:

LOAD"(file name - always case sensitive)"
RUN

RUN"(file name - always case sensitive)"

RUN"(file name - always case sensitive)",r

LOAD"(file name - always case sensitive)"
RUN"",r

LOAD"(file name - always case sensitive)",r
RUN

Example for the Sharp-HuBasic CZ-8CB01 Disk image + Hover Attack.tap Cassette image:
Type the command "FILES" to see the the content.
LOAD"Hover Attack.Bas"
RUN"

_________________________________________________________________

i have the disk image and .tap loaded
but when i type
it looks like gibberish (jap text?
how do i get english letters on the screen?

using the emulator u linked to above

do  you know that from trial and error?

i have been doing LOAD"Hover Attack.Bas" (for example)
but it seems maybe just LOAD will work??

do you have a list of commands per game?
thanks

Title: Re: sharp x1
Post by: AnnaWu on November 15, 2014, 07:37:57 AM
Try the command "CHAIN" instead of "LOAD"

Example for Alice in Wonderland:
CHAIN
or
CHAIN "CAS0:ALICE"

Sometimes it can be useful to check the BASIC listing by using the "LIST" command.

OK, enough for today.

After a re-examination of my crystal ball I think I know now the contents of this message:

QuoteThis tape has the old format. If the automatic conversion is performed, then the first 36 bytes (header entries) are lost.

It exist a tool called "old_tap" which convert the new into old tape format.

when a game also has a "user disk" as well as other disks

Hello, I'd join this thread too if you don't mind.
I just got an X1 Twin and I'm starting to hunt software for it.
First question is if the Twin is a normal X1, since it is the last one.
But I think it is, therefore I can't run Turbo software on it.
Second is if you know of a disk-based basic instead of a cassette based one.
Thank you ;)
Title: Re: sharp x1
Post by: AnnaWu on December 04, 2014, 07:17:46 PM
1.) The X1 Twin can not use turbo/turboz specific software but not tested on the original hardware.
However, the X1 Twin is a very nice hybrid machine.

2.) Check the Neo Kobe - Sharp X1 (2014-06-08) (http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5615.msg38552#msg38552) package and you will find it (HuBASIC CZ-8FB01).
HuBASIC CZ-8FB02/CZ-8FB03 is for the turbo/turboz machines.

Follow up question: In order to load the japanese text named games from the type-in collection disks I have discovered that I can scroll up to the japanese text game names and type LOAD" before them and " after them and then I am able to load them. I am happy about this because I do not have Japanese symbols/fonts etc on my computer. The problem is that after one uses the FILES command to see the files on the disk the list scrolls up and off the emulator screen. And I am only able to scroll up as high as the visible text and not into the text that has scrolled off the screen. This prevents me from loading the japanese text games that have scrolled off of the screen.

Is there any way to scroll up higher??

thanks

Just another small question, is there a way to connect the Sharp Cassette Recorder (CZ-8RL1) to the X1 Twin, since it doesn't have any "Rec" port on the back?
