Title: X68000 Expert bus error at power on
Post by: motorola73 on June 25, 2020, 05:00:14 PM
Hello. Yesterday a strange thing happened to me. After turning the sharp x68k off and back on regularly, the following message appeared: "bus error, please reset". Fortunately, after turning it back on after 4 hours, the regular screen reappears asking to insert the operating system floppy.
The wording of the error was not white, but yellow. Before turning it off, I tried the games and the operating system and everything was fine, except the dos utility "SWITCH.x", which got stuck with the classic message "... <A> <R> <I>", but pressing <A> returned to the dos regularly.
Is this a component that is failing again?
The battery seems charged because the date and time remain stored.
I learned that the Sharp X68k is subject to viruses like traditional desktop computers with Dos and Windows.
Just in case, I list the games that I have restored with teraterm and played so far (all non-original copies taken from the "TOSEC" package via uTorrent):
-Street Fighter II champion edition
-Gradius (version with Window SX at startup)
-Final Fight
-Pac-Man
-Super Mario Bros.

Thanks in advance.

Yes. These computers are very fragile.  Date and time are saved in the RTC, not SRAM.  Sounds like SRAM might have gotten corrupt and needed to be reloaded.
