Title: X68000 PRO Problems
Post by: urnhurrell on February 22, 2018, 06:02:43 AM
So, I've been working on my PRO for around 8 months now. It was working fine in my apartment, and then I moved into my house and I stopped getting a video signal. I assumed it was a cap problem, so I replaced any dying caps. All were in the power supply, so it made sense to me, considering that's what I hear is usually the problem with x68ks. It was still dead. I got help from a facebook group, and replaced the SN74ALS05AN chip (socketed of course). A signal came through, but now it's wrapping vertically down the screen. I metered everything again, and the 3v battery was going out. I finally replaced that, and the screen is still wrapping. Any suggestions? I'm pretty open. I feel like I've already replaced so much. Thanks!

Did you replace any caps on the board, or just the PSU?

Just the PSU. I metered the caps on the board though, and they're all up

testing ESR in circuit is iffy at best. Might as well do a full cap kit job.
