Hello everybody,

I need to change all capacitors of my non working 3"5 drive.

Please can you confirm this is the good capacitor model (10v 10uf) :

I know that capacitor must be very small...

thanks!

Hi,

Cannot tell about these one, because I used electrolitic caps when I (tried) to repair mine.
Still, they refuse to work after replacing the caps.
Why don't you look for electrolytic ? It is not hard to find...

But i can't find TINY electrolitic caps...

What's the symptom of your faulty drive?

I think I bought one mouser or farnell. They have the size of the caps, among other specs, so it is easy to know if the cap will fit.

About my drives, the symptoms are mixed.
Sometimes they turn on, the led blinks, some time they don't.
Sometimes they seem dead.
Sometimes they eject the disk, sometimes don't.

I have two Compacts with floppy problems.
I am thinking about give up and install a mod for internal HD.

I have one compact here with internal HD, and I am thinking about cloning that setup in the other two...

 Hi Costa !

This sounds like there could be a broken trace somewhere or you need to reflow the solder joints.

Keep the scene alive !

X68000 personal computer is called, "X68K" or "no good good" is called, is the PC that are loved by many people today.

My issue is very strange because the drive ejects the floppy (working on another drive) everytime.

I've tested the drive on working compact with the same result (sadly). :-\

So, the symptom does not look odd at all, they might need a recap only...
the problem is that not all caps are accessible... I was not able to replace the cap near the motor...

Thanks for the encouraging works, Eidis.
When I find the time and patience to re-open the floppies, and disassemble all those small parts I will reflow the joints and check the ones I did when recapped.

Jeff, the creaor of HxC floppy emulator, announced a rew revision of his device with full support to X68000 machines, release is scheduled for next March:

http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1372

Anyway, Some time ago I succesfully installed the older version of HxC SD floppy emulator in my CompactXVI and it worls very well ( an additional board is neded to emulate some proprietary X68000 FDD signals as well a custom FDD cable)
