Title: Replacing/fixing the analogue sticks on the Hori Battle Pads for Wii
Post by: Marsmite on February 09, 2015, 05:02:28 AM
I'm keen on these new Hori controllers (http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Battle-Luigi-Version-Turbo-u/dp/B00ND0E604/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top/189-1504280-5184265), but the analogue sticks on the ones I have are pretty bad. The problem is that they max out at about 30% of the total travel distance. I'm looking into replacing the sticks with ones like the ones I got off Micro (http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?action=profile;u=2743) when I modded my N64 controllers (http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5023.msg33001#msg33001).

I don't know if these analogue sticks can simply replace the ones that come on the Hori PCB. They look similar and seem to have the same pins, but the first number printed on the part is different. On the Hori controllers the characters are 32, 6, B and 103. On Micro's N64 sticks the characters are 60, 6, B and 103.

Can anyone tell me if swapping the sticks should work, if these are the wrong sticks to swap in, or anything else relevant before I grab a soldering iron? Perhaps there is a way to calibrate the existing sticks so that they max out where they should?

Cheers
