Does anyone know if the gold N64s are of the newer motherboard revision like the translucent colored ones are? Has anyone overclocked one?

If I remember correctly, the gold systems came out a while before the translucent colored systems did and not much longer after the system debuted in 1997. They were probably early model boards.

I remembered seeing one of them in Toys R Us in summer 1998. I had just gotten a standard one, and I was pissed that I didn't know about the gold system sooner so I could've gotten that instead.

Yeah, I think that the Gold ones will be the same as the grey ones...

What about that Pikachu N64? I'd say that would be a newer board revision.

It lacked the unused (over here) expansion port on the bottom, did the coloured N64s have this or not?

I got one of the "Fire Orange" N64's and it does have the expansion plug underneath.   My guess is that the "big" pikachu one had it removed and the yellow/blue pokemon one still had it in it.
