Soldier Blade on the PC Engine is a thoroughly average little shmup that really starts to kick ass in the timed 2- and 5-minute games. In the interest of perfect scores, I'd like to offer this score guide, detailing in order of appearance the baddies you'll find, and what they're worth to your score. Currently the best score seen is just shy of two million, but after a week or more of playing most players have a hard time cracking 1.1 million, and even knowing most of the bonuses 1.4 - 1.6 million is considered excellent. There's 3-400,000 more points in there somewhere. Let's find them!
The items and enemies shown below are divided into categories. Powerups, Hidden Bonuses, Bonus Baddies, Cannon Fodder and Larger Fodder.

Larger Fodder | |
| 500pts Attacks in threes, one at a time. Enters from top of screen, usually left / center / right. |
| 1,000pts Swoops in from sides, easy to kill. Ugly. |

| 8,000pts Nothing special. Enters from bottom of screen moving slowly. |
| 10,000pts Attacks six at a time, from top of screen. Runs away when shot so wait at the bottom of the screen until they gather, then kill 'em all!
800pts Also appears before 2-min boss with different pattern. Enters from sides, moves slow. |
| 1,000pts Easy to kill. Releases 5 missiles when it dies. You have to really suck to be injured by them. Missiles are worth 100pts each. |
Big Bonus Baddies | |
| 1,000pts before he curves. 20,000pts after he starts to turn. 50,000pts Wait for him to close the loop as shown for max. You must be INSIDE the loop when it closes or you get only 1,000pts. |
| 100pts Breaks into 4 smaller balls when destroyed.
100pts Destroy all four balls for 4,000pts. When two Big Balls appear, destroy all 8 smaller balls for 80,000pts. |

Bosses | |
| By the time you reach the 2-minute boss you should have three minutes and 10-20 seconds remaining. Milk him for points, each of his shots is worth 500pts. Let him die of natural causes (Missed shots) and you should be moving on right around the 2-minute 50-second mark, with a pocket full of points to show for your effort. One Japanese high scorer comes into the boss with 350,000 and leaves with double that.
His attack pattern is simple. Starting in top-center, he'll spew a few bullets then start his movement pattern: From center - Left, center, right, center, move up/down, repeat. At each stop he'll spew out a bunch of 500-point bullets. Pure gold.
