Just a general question about MDX files... as i understand so are MDX not ripped from games (those that are game music) but fanmade arrangements?

I'm not really clear on all of the details but yes, it seems as though most songs are arrangements. I have docs that came with some songs that suggest that CD and LD versions of soundtracks are used for timing/sampling as well as tape recordings of the games at the arcade.

Too bad no one really have knowledge about those MDX files... as they are often presumed to be gamerips and not re-arrangements :-/

Yeah well, the MDX scene has been dead for decades with few exceptions. All I know about it is from ephemeral documents left over from a different time. 2400 baud single user BBS phone numbers, handles and things like that. Some of them are funny. One guy talks at length about late night coding, being drunk and living life. Talks some shit about some other people then finishes up by telling the reader to ignore all of the above because its probably not true, heh. Interesting stuff. A window into a scene none of us were a part of in its heyday. Maybe I should post some of them :)
