Hi guys,
My apologies for the lateness of my reply. I've been super busy with other things.
Thanks for your replies.
@ l_oliveira Yeah I know which chip is the lockout on the jap SNES, my issue is where to patch pin 10 of the lockout chip to (the pad where the CIC chip used to be). On the UK SNES you run a wire from pin 10 of the CIC (u8) to pin 4 of the chip labeled u10. On the Super Famicom, u10 is an 8 pin chip while on the UK machine the about 14 pins (I cant say exactly what the pin count is, my SNES isn't near me right now).
@ phreak97 You are totally right. My reset button doesn't work! I never even noticed lol. I shows how much I reset the machine lol.
To be honest, I have no ides what patching the wire between u10 and u8 actually does. I read it in some other instructions. I really need to hunt down more information on the SNES CIC to see what each pin on the chip does.
Concerning the reset issue, there must be a way of reconnecting the reset line coming from the button back to the cpu reset. Would I be correct in thinking when the SNES reset button is pushed a signal is sent to the CIC which then resets the CPU? My thinking behind this simply because with the CIC chip removed the reset functionality is gone. With this thought process I'm thinking there is a 'reset input' on the CIC coming from the reset button and a 'reset output' running to the CPU's reset. If this is so, I'm thinking a simple patch between the 'reset input' on the CIC to the 'reset output' would suffice.
That is purely theoretical, I'm just thinking logically. I'm probably way off. lol
