Title: DIY: Replace the noisy stock fan in my XVI with a quiet Noctua fan
Post by: GiLL on April 29, 2017, 03:09:24 PM
Hey guys

I put up a video on my youtube channel detailing how to cleanly open up the X68000 and replacing the stock fan with a far quieter Noctua fan.

Thought I would post this in case anyone was interested.

Thanks for the video! I'm definitely going to plan to use this to replace the fan in my XVI at some point since I'd honestly like to try and stream on Twitch with it as I enjoy playing on real hardware, but since the fan is noisy, the mic would pick up that extra fan sound.

Edit: Just to make sure I've got the correct model fan, is this the one you used? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NQMESS/

SkyWelse, the fan you linked is also the one I replaced my stock XVI fan with, so it should fit no problem. I also used one of the adapter cables to slow down the speed since it seemed a bit overkill at the default speed.
